  1. ...I might be in the position to get myself a new bass :)

I was wondering if anyone knew which plant the Steve Harris sig model is made? Is it MIA/MIM/MIJ?? I can't find any info on it.

Other then that, has anyone gotten a chance to play it? I am waiting for the GC to get them in my area so I can try one out, but are there any first impressions? I've always been a fan of maple necked P-Bass's... and I'd have put 1/4pounder pickups in it anyway.. so I figure, this is a good deal :)

I believe it is MIJ, but I am not sure. It looks nice and from what I have heard is a nice bass. Try before you buy, but it should be pretty nice.

Is there a current production p-bass with mutes?

  4. It's made in Japan. There's an article on it in the new Fender Bassstreet magazine.

And that's cheap, if it's near pro quality.

The one i play at school is a john juzak 1/2 or 5/8 size. Can't tell. I don't know what year it is, or even close to. I head somewhere that it could be close to 10k.

I doubt a school would buy a $10,000 Juzek for a bunch of kids to abuse.

I'm getting myself a double bass within a week or two...I'm pretty psyched. Love playing it. Bowing though... .

Beautiful bass, Jazzbo! What're the specs?

  13. All I can really say is, its not the Steve Harris P-Bass  LOL

    :D

    Cuteness.

    Strunal Double Basses - Hybrid

This hybrid bass is made with a solid carved European spruce top, laminated swelled back, laminated ribs, maple neck, nickel-plated machines, ebony finger board and tailpiece.

Acoustically this bass is a major step-up from the fully laminated version. The carved spruce top is the key element in it's acoustic quality. Unlike a laminated top which consists of layers of wood glued together at opposing angles and only one consistent thickness, the solid carved spruce is graduated to various thickness for optimum acoustic quality and the grain pattern orients only in one direction which allows the vibrations to move freely through the instrument. The result is a bass that has a bigger, fuller and more sophisticated tone.

    Sizes 1/2

I'm pretty sure it was donated. Almost all of the school instruments are donated. There is a 9k viola at the jr. high. It is a sad thing the school has it. I have spent a lot of my lunches and breaks on it. Our school also has an acoustic SWR combo.
