  1. If Jaco was still alive, what kind of bass do you think he would be playing? And if he was stilll playing, what kind of music do you think he would be into?(This could get interesting!)

I know that in his earlier youth Mr. Pastorius did play doublebass a bit. Given the hard use he inflicted on his equipment I'd guess that, were he alive, he'd have to be playing a plywood bass. He also liked vintage so I'm guessing it would be a Kay or American Standard.

I'm also guessing this is not exactly where you meant to ask your question.

Jaco was a talented musician, but I never thought of him as a jazz bassist, he wanted to be a pop star who played bass, he wanted to be famous a probably play or be part of any project that would give him opportunity to be the center of attention, I am sure he'd be comming up with stuff real "out there" and he did respect very much Jazz, but he liked all kinds of music and probably respected other styles just as much.

Whatever he'd be playing, he'd be doing it it BG Miscellaneous rather than here. I feel sure of it.

If he was alive today? He'd probably be kicking and screaming trying to get out of that coffin! :D

On a serious note, he'd probably be playing jazz on his sig model.

For the most part, I think he would be doing straightahead jazz (still on electric bass - most likely still a Fender.) And maybe a CD of his own interpretations of Hendrix tunes.

I think he might have collaborated with The Roots. Their drummer is amazing and I think that would be cool to hear...
