what would you put on a Fender Custom Shop bass?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Every1TookMyName, Feb 9, 2002.

  1. Here's mine:

    J-style mahogany body

    sunburst finish w/ red tortoise shell pickguard

    24 fret maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard and mother of pearl dot inlays

    1 Vintage Spec Split Single-Coil P-Bass (Mid), 1
    New Special Design Humbucker (Bridge)

    Leo Quann Badass II Bridge

    Schaller Machine heads

    controls - blend, 2 band EQ (stacked)

    Perfect for a nice lower-mid range tone.
  2. Sounds cool except mine has 2 have a Chrome (mirror) pickguard a P-Bass body, and midnight blue paint ;)
  3. Jazz body and neck, alder body, maple neck with pao-ferro fretboard, rectangular inlays. Four strings, schallers. J at the Bridge P at the neck. Volume Volume Tone. White body, matt black pick guard. Leo Quann Badass II Bridge

    .....Oh wait, I did that already.:D

    In all seriousness, I was thinking of building a Jazz bass w/a nice quilt top, Rosewood fretboard w/preal blocks & binding & Fender came out w/this...

    This looks like a KILLER bass & I'd love to play one. I havemn't seen one yet. :(

    I'd do the pimped-out Wayman Tisdale thing.

    A 4-string Jazz with:

    Transparent white finish over swamp ash.
    Gold hardware;
    Gold control plate;
    Crushed pearloid pickguard;
    Brass nut;
    Bound maple board and block MOP inlays.

    No preamp; I'd prefer using one outboard.

    American Deluxe P base (one w/ bridge humbucker)
    Trans. Midnight Wine over Flamed maple
    Back pickgaurd
    Bart P and Bart H-bucker.
    Maple neck
    Maple Fretboard
    Angled, downsized headstock
    Aguilar OBP-1 preamp
    Vol/Vol, instead of Vol/Blend
    Active/Passive switch
    Thinner body to reduce weight
    Hipshot A style bridge
    Hipshot Ultralite Tuners
    (Black Hardware)
    24 frets

    And, heck I'm throwing down, I'll spring for some LEDs on the front and side.

    Precision Deluxe 5, with a Basslines MM pickup in the bridge position. Tobacco sunburst, flamed maple top, tortoise pickguard, hipshot ultralight elephant ear tuners, Schaller string through body bridge, and ashtrays.
  8. i dunno... for some reason, i just don't think fender basses should look fancy at all. i'd probably just get a black p-bass with black pickguard and maple fingerboard (dots for markers) and hipshot tuners.

    either that, or one made to look like matt sharp's (ex-weezer). black jazz bass with tortoiseshell pickguard and rosewood fretboard, and the finish worn down on the arm bevel.

    Spalted Maple over Alder J Body, carved top (slightly)
    EMG Pickups with BQC preamp
    Warwick Bridge
    Graphite neck (super slim) w/ 6 bolt attachment, 24 frets
    Hipshot Ultralites
    SimS LED fretmarkers on the side and touch sensitive ones on the front (that light up under my fingers... and change color... I can dream can't I?)

    Or for that money, I could get a slightly used Jumbo Jet!
