It's WHO you play with that counts. I am not fond of Latin music, but I would a thousand times rather play Latin with good musicians than blues (my obsession!) with sheep....
True, but the best thing (ofcourse) is when you get to play the music you love, with great musicians. Never thought of that, did you?
To add, nothing for me is better than play FOR the people I love. To expand the point, I would play hilbilly music with redneck virtuosos before getting into another SKA band. I would tend to learn more about music than treading the same old ground.
For me the fun level is directly proportional to 2 things, 1. The reaction of the audience 2. The involvement of the other musicians, if they are having a good time I tend to enjoy myself more, regardless of the type of music played.
Yeah, I'm hurt. *sniff**sniff* But I know what you mean. I find my new band more fun to play with, because they all know music theory, so it gives me something to push myself to do. It also means more random jam sessions, even if I don't know my theory.
How true. It's also not WHAT you play that is so important, but HOW you play it, WHEN you play it, and WHY you play it.
*drunk redneck on* What are you guys, some kinda hippies with yer "I love to play with you" business? Well we dont take too kindly to your kind round these parts. *falls over*
Hehehe...fine fine fine... Which is just as well anyway, considering I can't play the blues to save my life, other than the absolutly essential, excessively basic 12 bar blues...
Literally. So they stop making all that damn noise. That way you can concentrate on getting some good bass playing happening.
