Just wonderin'.. What is a good song to learn?

    Not something to difficult.. please.
And perhaps something that I'd know.. (most new punk/rock bands) some old favoutes like Deep purple.

    Thanks for any advice!
  2. Any Deep Purple song would be great to play with.
Playing with Roger Glovers 1/8 and 1/16th notes will help to build your playing. One you get those down you can work on getting down his fills and riffs.

Highway Star is a fun one, so is Space Trucking.

I started out with some stuff from the christian punk band MXPX. They have some pretty simple stuff to play.
  4. Brain Stew by Green Day is the easiest song you could ever learn, new Offspring is pretty easy, some Matthew Good Band isn't that hard. But for a beginner, I recommend Anesthesia (just kidding). Try some other stuff, and then get into the Metallica later.

LaGrange is pretty easy. da da da da da da be bum bah... and repeat. Not too tough!

Lots of blues, country and old rock are simple three chord progressions that you can get comfortable with root note and progression first and then have fun walking all over the place within the chords.
  6. Yeah, offspring is pretty fun and easy to play, also nirvana, RHCP, and some others that i'll leave for other people to say ( i don't wanna hog it all ) :)
  7. If you want a cool song to play you need to learn Lithium or Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
  8. Try these classic riffs, they are very easy yet sound great and everybody knows them:

One of my all time favorite bands is tool. A cool song to learn would be stinkfist off of aenema. Of course all of their songs are cool to learn. Good luck!!
  12. Yeah, theres a lot more to all of those songs, I just listed memorable riffs from them that are easy and everyone knows.

'Sunday Bloody Sunday' by the Living End is a cover of U2. I gotta say though, i've heard the Living End version and it blows U2's version away.
  13. Hey man Here's the best way to play more advanced songs.

You choose an advanced song that you can listen to.
Next get the notes or the tab for the song and start picking out the riffs
Practice that song over and over and over ect.
When you've mastered it you can start on another song.

    It worked for me.
