I was browsing through the classifieds the other day and I saw this old Yamaha BB model. The headstock has the original decal "Broad Bass" on it which then explained what "BB" stands for.

I then wondered, what about TRB or the RBX or even other brand names like the ATK, SR, SRT, SRA, BTB, GIO, LTD, etc...what do they stand for?

not a whole lot of help here, LTD is short for Limited,
SR is what Ibanez calls the SoundgeaR
    SRT is SoundgearR Thru neck
    SRA is SoundgeaR Arch top

more I don't know... Ibanez EXB, Yamaha TRB

  3. The Ibanez ATK means 'attack'.

  4. I would assume BTB stands for Boutique Bass.

Here's some that Ibanez uses with their guitars and basses. They are just my educated guesses, looking at patterns and such.

    QM - Quilted Maple top
QA - Quilted Art Top [Veneer]
    FM - Flamed Maple [Veneer]
    AH - Ash Body
    MH - Mahogany Body
    E - EMG
    M - Maple fretboard
    MP - Maple Fretboard
    PB - Poplar Burl top

I killed the tranny on my '86 Grand Prix, and boy, was I ever aggravated. I also own an ATK, which means the acronym must be true.
