Hi there friends, just love the sound coming out of that F Jazz bass thru those bass speakers! Anyone has a clue of what type of amplifier and signal processor she.s using?? Txs
I'm gonna say Accugroove cabs. I can't place the head but honestly, I hate her tone. Just my opinion of course.
FWIW, Accugroove cabinets have an excellent reputation. I'm sure it's her amp settings or effects that I don't care for, not the cabs.
Looks like an Accugrove El Whappo cab up top and a Grande on the bottom to me. No clue on the amp although just going off the fuzzy image, Line 6 was the first thought that came to mind...I'm sure that's wrong though.
Thanks. Yep looks like a mistery, have been Googling images but no match up to now!Maybe some kind of amp from the 80s ??
Looks like Accugroove cabs and a Genz Benz head to me. Of course, there is also a significant PA system too, which is being fed by a DI of some kind (maybe from the Genz head) so there are a lot of thing making up that signal chain that the OP likes the sound of so much. YT says the vid was from 2017, so really not too long ago. GBE 1200 for reference
The amp is a Genz-Benz GBE, probably 1200. Also, I think that guitarist was in an episode of The Office.
I like her style she makes it look fun and easy. I'm ok with her sound but would like to hear a little more sparkle/high end growl. But then again she is the famous one, I am no one in comparison.
At the beginning of the song it sounds like she or someone is running a compressor with a fairly high Ratio setting on and a low threshold. You still have some decent attack but the notes through the middle stay the same volume pretty much until she changes notes. Don't really like that sound by itself, but it works fine in the mix, especially when she starts playing some lower notes. I don't see a compressor on the amp if it's the Genz-Benz 1200 that @pfschim posted, but it sure sounds like one is applying a pretty hefty amount of compression on it to me.
I'm not sure, but it looks like she has an East preamp in her bass. Had a bass with one of those in it, couldn't get rid of it fast enough. But I suspect I'm an outlier on that. Isn't this from one of those PBS specials? Like "music of the 70s" or something like that? If it is, her tone is probably further massaged by the show's producers to sound good on TV. But never mind her tone! It's hard enough to play and sing, she plays and sings AND talks to the crowd while playing! That's some talent and hard work! How it it she (ok, they) was a one hit wonder!?
I believe that is a GBE-1200, a lot ended up in touring situations. They weren't seen as much as a practice amps or in rehearsal rooms or with kids starting out.
I was gonna say a Tri-115 on the bottom. That is a massive combo. I've had both of those cabs. I think the El Whappo by itself was capable of affecting weather patterns in the surrounding area.
I wasn't 100% sure on that bottom cab as the resolution on my screen was almost not good enough to get the El Whappo guess right! In retrospect I wondered if the amp was a GB (it had that look), but I wasn't even familair with the GB model it turned out to be, so I never woudl have gotten that one right.
