What's the best (cleanest, easiest) way to slice an olive?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by parrott, Apr 9, 2003.

  1. I was trying to slice some to put on my pizza earlier, I was just making a mess!

I have a sharp knife, but what can I do?

How do you cleanly, easily, slice an olive?

  2. This question seems so easy, I'm afraid it's a set up. :D

    1) They're easier to slice length-wise than width-wise.

    2) Bigger olives are easier than smaller ones. (obviously)

    3) If you're really having trouble put them in the fridge for about an hour before slicing them.

Of course you've removed the pit, right?

    and most importantly...

You should always tell family and friends: OLIVE YOU! :D

Did you expect anything different from me? :)
  3. The bigger the knife, the better. A 5 foot Claymore ought to do just fine.:D

    Rock on

    4) Always make sure your knives are sharp. That's actually rule #1.
  5. Take a handful of them & out them in an egg slicer. 1 swoosh & it's onto the pizza :D

Of course avoiding the olives makes things even cleaner :spit:

O liven guys....it's not that hard. Although I can't talk because when ever I cut an olive it get's OLIVER place.

but ya know what...an olive is an olive, so even if a PIZZA olive breaks off, you can still use it.

    hmmm :D
  7. I'll bet that's what I've been doing wrong.... I've been trying to do them width-wise.

If it wasn't 1am, I'd try doing some right now.
