What's the best varnish you've ever seen?

    Looking for varnish porn. I'm curious about options on how to have a new bass varnished. If you've seen a beautiful varnish job, please post a pic or link!

    Do they use French Polish on basses? I know it's what's used on high end classical guitars.

    Yes. Some people do. I know Kolstein's sells it. Whether it's agood idea or not, I couldn't tell you.

    I may be going with a faint purple varnish on my next bass. Here it is on pine top maple back on a guitar.

    That back is Claro Walnut, not maple. Is it Seth's new guitar made from bass offcuts?

    Look at any instrument from Arnold Schnitzer if you like fine varnish work.
