Whats the David Eden SWR link ?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by david_l_perry, Oct 2, 2003.

  1. I always thought that David Eden only produced the very early (80/early 90's) speaker drivers for SWR cabs..and then started his own company after a fall out.

A recent thread described a goliath 4x10 built by Eden for SWR...

Anybody know the real story ??

    Munji?
    Pete bass?

Just interested in a history lesson..

    Many thanks in advance

    Dave.

David Nordschow (Eden) was working at SWR in the beginning, where he helped design some of the early SWR product line, most notably the Goliath speaker cabinet line. He left to start Eden and used some of his original designs as a starting point for Eden cabinets, hence the similarity

I don't know if he worked for SWR, but he was on good terms with them for at least a while, because he was selling his drivers to them for their cabs. Somebody fleshed the whole thing out authoritatively in great detail in here before. A detailed search might dredge it up.

Here's a snip from a thread over in The Bottom Line. it sounds right to me.

FACT: Eden Electronics was in business before SWR was. They made PA cabs
under their own names (a local dealer carried them). They also made cabs
for the short-lived Pearce amp line. They probably were OEMs for other
companies, too, and definitely for SWR, manufacturing the original
    Goliaths.

FACT: Since he was already in business, David Nordschow did not start Eden
to "bury his old employer", he simply went into competition with him after
the two companies terminated their OEM relationship.

  5. Cheers chaps...
