How long does it take to get a Dr bass cab? I plan on getting the 2x12 lower model and was wondering. I have a bigggg show coming up and ive been wanting one for a while. I figured this would be a good time!
I was quoted 8 weeks by Mark for a 2x12. I'm hearing it's more like 12 weeks. I've been waiting 5 so far.
I was quoted 4 weeks. I'm on week 11. I was told last week that it should be done within the next week or so. That makes it this week! I sure hope so. It looks like 12 weeks is about right these days. Check to see if he has anything in stock or clsoer to completion that isn't taken. you might get lucky.
Greetings from the North, The rate of anxiety will increase the amount of time before delivery. Dr.Bass cabs are definately worth the wait. Sometimes Marc actually has what you want in stock, but if he doesn't you can be sure that when he builds what you've ordered he will do a 1st class job. He doesn't skimp and he won't let it leave his shop unless it's right on the money. I waited in agony for my cab cause it was the first Rx in the 2260 spec. What an awsome little cab it is. Good things do come to those that wait. Rezdog
I really hope so! After I didn't get the cab in the expected 4 weeks, I kind of forgot about it. It will get here when it gets here. I'm just glad I'm not playing out as much as I used to. I waited much longer for my G&L ASAT to be built. When Marc consulted me about the sound I was going for, he was raving about the lightweight plywood he just got in that he was going to use to build my cab. Apparently it was nice enough to make furniture out of - almost a shame to cover up. I'm expecting great things.
I think you need to be prepared to WAIT... Look, I think the stuff he sells is a good value for what you get. But when it comes to actually getting shipped what you've already fully paid for, it's much, much too often a case of "the check's in the mail." Is there anyone who has ever gotten something from him early? Is there anyone who has ever gotten something from him on time? Is there anyone who has not had to wait much longer than promised? He's full of excuses. One delay follows another. In this regard he's just plain & simple not on the up & up. It would be O.K. if he'd be forthright about how long it's really going to take for him to get around to completing jobs. As I said, he makes a reasonably good product. But his honesty(because when you strip away all the paint, that's what it is) for how long it's going to take is woefully inadequate.
I live across the pond in Ireland. I ordered a couple of cabs from Dr.Bass last year specifically for a tour I was doing at christmas, these were demo cabs that he had already in stock but needed some modification, specifically an RX 210 that needed to have a speakon connector added and a 1260 cab that needed a jack connector added. To cut a long story short, the cabs were ordered (and paid for) at the begining of october and after numerous emails and phone calls with me begging for them, they eventually arrived sometime in January which was too late for the tour and neither of them had the mods done, so I have an RX210 with only jack speaker outs and a 1260 with only a single speakon connector and nothing else! I have to say the two cabs are great and I mostly use them as a pair which is an awesome powerhouse, but my overall experience with Marc Serio was disappointing and it is quite awkward to set the cabs up without the speaker mods he promised. Any time he eventually replied to an email or answered the phone it was one big excuse after another and it would certainly sour me from dealing with his company again. I usually see these Dr.Bass threads and there are always a bunch of guys straight in to defend Marc, cos hes such a great guy, have patience etc etc.....at the end of the day, when you pay your money out and you are promised a reasonable delivery time, the expectation is just that and when it doesnt happen...well thats just bad business in my book, dont tell some one they can expect a delivery in 3 weeks if you know in your heart it will not happen, because thats not being honest either....
You're 100% correct. You know, "being a great guy" & "he'd be super to sit down & drink a beer with" & "he's a bass player making products for bass players" just does not cut it. Business is business. And when it comes to business, Marc runs his poorly. I'll never buy any product from him again after waiting 5 months for 2 cabs. And I'm strongly advocating that people stay away from him. Sorry, but that's how it is. If he ever changes his deceptive ways, I'm prepared to reconsider. But I have a sneaking suspicion that he never will change.
Guys, up to 12 weeks for a cab? I understand they're nice cabinets, but for $449 you could have a Carvin BRX12 delivered in five days & it's in stock. You won't be disappointed in the BRX cab.
Well, I got my cab on Dec 30th (14-15 week wait - I lost track). The cab itself is outstanding, but the wait was horrific. It appears as if Marc has had a pretty bad year with the hurricanes, his car accident, and his mother passing away in December of '05. I can see how those things can lead to a big backup in orders. I received an email from Marc and he was very apologetic. They will be moving into a new facility and plan to have many empty cabs built so that an order will eventually take days instead of weeks. Let's hope they can fulfill their backorders and get into some serious production. I'm not definding Dr. Bass, but I'm just laying it down how it is and passing along some info I got from Marc just last week. I'm hoping things work out because the cabs are very nice. And you gotta love the heavy duty covering!
