    I play in two bands:

DaCocoHedz- we gig just about every weekend, and we play all kinds of stuff: rock, country, blues, r & b, jazz, jazz/rock fusion, FUNK ('das what I'm talkin' 'bout!), reggae... and what we affectionately call it out here in Paradise... Ja'waiian
    (I hate it, but I'll play it! $$$... heh-heh-heh... ) :smug:

Usual Suspects- We are a 60s and 70s classic-rock cover band. Okay! Before anyone gets started, prior to deciding to go with this band name, I had 'Googled' 'The Usual Suspects' and found that there's more than one band out there with this name, and they all seem to have a CD, too. Well, we dropped "The" from our name, as have some of the other 'Suspects' bands, but we figure that, since there is definitely no band out here in Paradise with this name, and since we are just a cover band... all 'dem 'Suspects' can come on out here and sue our asses! :p Besides... this band doesn't get out there that much...

...who cares anyway? It's only rock 'n roll... right? :bassist:
  4. Lucy's Bones

One of our guitar player/songwriters came up with it. It refers to the female Australopithecus skeleton found by Donald Johanson in Ethiopia.

    (anthropological details here: http://www.asu.edu/clas/iho/lucy.html)

Why that as a name? Well, Alan (guitar player) says it evokes images of the mother of all of us.

I think it's a good name because we're a bunch of old fossils.

"When we were born, we were born into eternity. We are now here forever."

and we also like how it says nowhere forever. the ambiguosity is nice. :ninja:

named after a t-rex tune [raw ramp]

the funny thing is a "ramp", other than the obvious definition is also a "rooted vegetable in the same family as garlic".

basically we are TOMMY RIVERS AND RAW GARLIC.

The first band I was in was called The Single Coils (after the guitarist's pickups). It later changed into The Woods & The Marsh.

My current band is called The Enlightened Statesmen. We got the phrase out of one of James Madison's federalist essays.

My current band is a classic rock trio called "Tiny Johnson"

I got the idea from Beavis and Butthead do Christmas-the scene where Beavis goes home from his manager's job, and puts on a Christmas porno called Ebeneezer screw. The main characters are Bob Scratchitt, and Tiny Johnson. I thought that would be cool-so did the other guys! :D
  13. Back in the 80's. Ive been a drummer in bands with names like:

    Strange Behavior

I have yet to play bass in a band. But, it would probably be jazz rockish. I like the name "Old School".

Permenant Vacation - rock covers. No we don't play any aerosmith!

New Engine Red - side project. I do love the name: During the industrial revolution one of the railways chose a new colour for their trains, which they called New Engine Green - unfortunatly they guy was colourblind and New Engine Green was actually yellow. I miss remembered it, and told everyone NER was Green - which is a cooler version of the story anyway.

Damaged Gods (not my pick) - a band best forgotten.

Ask Alice - that was a fun band (original rock). Another name I really like.

Thren Keld Wingnut - from a Steve Vai lyric. It was a college band - we could get away with a stupid name. The band broke up pretty quickly, and then reformed in various shapes for years afterwards as "The Legendary Thren Keld Wingnut"!

Our drummer came up with the name supposedly after he saw a bunch of older gentlemen strolling out of a great meat market/restaurant in the town of West Texas saying something like, "... Ahhh, too much sausage...". When he suggested the name I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

No one ever forgets the name.

My band-on-hiatus is called the Divine Invasion because all of us read a lot of Philip K. Dick novels and that title seemed the best for a band name... if you're familiar with PK Dick you know that it's mostly a heartbreaking, hopeless yet funny joke... difficult to explain to those who aren't familiar with his work (the movies never get the tone of his books quite right). So most people think we're a Christian rock band (nothing wrong with that, just not us) when we really play hedonistic surf rock :D

Currently, I'm spending most of my time writing music by myself so I've taken the name Wolfs to keep that stuff distinct from the Divine Invasion. I went with Wolfs because, uh, I like wolves... and I misspelled it to reflect how people from where I grew up (northern Wisconsin) say it since that's what I hear in my head when ever I read it on the page.

We're named after a city in Central PA, where, 40 years ago, someone started a trash fire in an underground mine. Turns out there was coal in the mine that caught fire. The fire's still burning today. Also, there's only 8 people still in Centralia, and the government has bought all the other property. The mayor is in his late 90's.

Turns out that just recently, the makers of the movie Silent Hill visited Centralia to use it for inspiration for the town of Silent Hill. Pretty cool if you ask me.
  18. but isnt that why you changed your name TO ATM from figjam?
