Like it says ^^^ up there....show us your ugly ax!

The ugliest one I ever had was a Kramer XKB bass, 4-string, with the aluminum neck. Mine was even the same color as the photo below....thought it was too ugly to pass up so I bought it. I had this back in high school, late 80's/early 90's. At that time, it was the only one I had ever seen.

Rulez say we're not supposed to call other's basses ugly, but I guess we can still call our own basses ugly? :woot:

About the closest I can get: not so much ugly, but weird.

Did it have the big white grease / gristle spots like salami does?

If you think it's ugly, then why did you buy it?

Maybe if you looked back on instruments you've owned in the past, Todays You will think that the purchasing decisions of Yesterdays You were not the best looking instruments you could have purchased, and that Yesterdays You should have purchased different instruments. However, you can't change the past, especially if there's photographic evidence... ;) :D

My vote is the same as yours. The XKB, in black, was my first, worst, and ugliest.

I'll preface this by saying I think they're weird and unusual, my wife thinks they're ugly......

My Dean Sledgehammer 5. Kind of a Warwick rip-off, looks like the bastard child of a Thumb and Dolphin. But it sounds absolutely amazing...

  11. Personally think this is a great looking bass and the only Dean I lust after. I like Thumbs and prefer lighter wood so it makes sense lol

I’ve still got a Dano longhorn. It’s hideous to me and I’ve never played it live, but it works great on the occasional recording

The ugliest bass I've owned? It's a tie between these two: 1.) First generation Mike Dirnt P-Bass with custom black/silver paisley pickguard or 2.) G&L L-2000 with custom flip-flop purple/green sparkle paint.

    DCP_0009. DCP_15-1.

At the time (roughly 12-15 years ago), I thought both were cool. Hindsight says otherwise, however.

  18. The old Cort, Steinberger wanna-be has got to take that crown for me. :D Paid $100.00 for it and travelled through Europe with it. I left it in Copenhagen, Denmark but I hear it's now living somewhere near Kristianstad, Sweden.
I don't miss the look, the sound or the feel of it. But it was decently portable.

    Warwick Corvette $$.

The very phallicy upper horn is pretty embarrassing. My wife even bought it a cock ring.

Would have to be this one:

Uglier'n homemade sin as the saying goes. Actually now it's even uglier with a cheesy pickguard and multiple stickers on it as well as chipped paint (which was poorly applied in the first place). Thing is, I still play it often. Even considering gigging it this upcoming Friday eve. It's got... ummm... mojo... or something. :roflmao:
