What's this? Corley?

    Was just browsing some local classified and came across this. It's a Corley PJ bass, made in 1975.

    Anyone have any idea where this was made (it's being sold in Ukraine but I'm pretty sure it wasn't made here). Japan? Europe?

    Also, I'd say that if it from the seventies it's the earliest boutique take on the fender theme I've seen, predates Sadowsky by a few years.

    Looks like a flame maple body and neck (it looks heavy), pickups are probably Dimarzios. If it is really from 1975 could it be one of the earliest production PJ configuration?

    Weirdly the control cover on the back looks exactly like the shape Fodera use.

    That is an interesting piece. The neck plate seems to say "Made in USA" and the headstock "hand made", but I can find no records of a Corley Guitar Factory at all. It does have the '70s air, and yes, the pickups are most likely early DiMarzio Models P and J.
