What's this top wood?

    Might be getting this bass in a trade and I'm curious what the top wood is. I'm guessing Myrtle, but not certain. Thanks for the help!

    I'd say maple; a mix of birdseye and curly - pretty! Most myrtle I've had my hands on has more defined grain and is a little more green in color.

    I agree, it looks more like maple to me as well. The color is not quite right for myrtle, which has a bit more green/grey tone to it and less yellow/gold:

    It's what is called "rainbow maple" by those who wanna charge extra markup. A little curl, a little birdseye. Usually there's some spalt too...but not this time.
