Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Discrepancy, Nov 9, 2003.

  1. If you could have any bass guitar in the world, which one would u have? There probably is a thread about this already, im just to lazy to look for it?

Mine is an Ernieball Stingray w/ maple fretboard, honeyburst body and white pickguard. I played one (not the right colors) and i loved it. I just dont have tthe $1200 right now.

I've got 4 dream basses I'm looking to aquire....

1.) Ash body, maple neck and board, translucent white with red tort guard, fretted 5 string 51 P Bass with a pair of Jazz pickups and a HiFi 3 band pre.

2.) Ash body, maple neck and board, translucent blue with red tort guard, fretless 6 string 51 P Bass with a dual coil humbucker in the MM sweet spot and a HiFi 3 band pre.

3.) Alder body, maple neck and rosewood board, aged white with red tort guard & matching headstock, fretted 5 string 60's P bass with a split P run pasive.

4.) good quality plywood 3/4 sized Upright bass

I'm getting there... I own #1, have #2 on order, & #4 is in the works too. #3 might be a Lull but will most likely be a Benavente like #1 & 2. I've no real GAS beyond these. Chris built my dream!

Very probably a US neck thru Spector 5 string, with an absolutely amazing Quilted Maple top......with a Black Cherry, or maybe transparent purple finish!

Either that ('cos I got a Czech Spector 5 string and a Korean REX 5 string) or a 5 string Sadowsky 5 string modern bass, with maple neck, black hardware and a quilted maple top in a transparent blue finish!:)

32" scale, bolt on neck w/unlined fretless ebony board, "mini" single cut chambered body w/f-hole, burl top, headless w/a D extender like a Kubicki. Not sure whos gonna make it for me or what electronics will go in it. Light Wave maybe.
    PEACE!!!!!, Johno!

    A Status Graphite Buzzard
An explorer with a Moses Graphite P neck with a P/J pickup config, EMG preamp booster (for feedback), and Hipshot bass vibrato.
    A '64 Precision bass.

    Well, probably:
    A cutsom design
Probably custom made by someone known
Natural finish, with maybe a light, or dark black stain
Mahogony body and neck (or Bubunga)
    EGM or Bartolini pickups
Not sure about the preamp, but 3 band EQ probably

    My dream bass would have:
undersized jazz bass body (like the "dinky J" body Warmoth offers) - swamp ash, natural finish

maple neck, maple fingerboard (flat sawn neck, quartersawn fingerboard)

Sadowsky preamp, Sadowsky humcancelling J pickups (or EMG J's)

    Basically, this bass:

    <img src="http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/images/3908_full.jpg">

    I just can't afford a Sadowsky. ;)

well let's see, I had a dream the other night where I was playing my monarch.

I also had adream a month or so where I was playing an upright and it was awesome.

I also once had a dream where I was playing jaco's bass of doom

so I guess it's one of those :D

    1) Greg Curbow P bass custom 4 string
    2) Custom spec'd USA Spector 6 string
    3) Custom spec'd FBB fretless 6

Between those three basses, I don't think I'd even GAS for anything...
