What is your favorite 4 string?

i'm always hearing around here about how 5 strings need more sustain or need to sound more natural or how a 5 string needs more headroom for speakers or blah blah blah on and on and on.

Well what abotu us 4 stringers?
    what matters to us?

    (no offence 5 string people):D

(For experienced 4 stringers only (you play 4 string basses for most gigs, practises, etc))
  2. My favorite bass is my current bass, a Yamaha BB1500A which is an active 2 pickup(J-Style) bass

What matters to me is sound and playability

I play 4's, among other things.:)

My favorite 4 string would be the Gibson RD Artist, preferably in butterscotch natural.

The venerable P Bass is a very close second.

No matter how fast my mind moves, my fingers can keep up on a Lakland 4.

    As memory serves:

Modulus Q4 (this was a while ago, but I remember being absolutely blown away) followed by a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub. Which, oddly enough, I liked better than the US BG. Go figure.
  7. I have 3 which, over the course of a year, get pretty much equal stage time. My current favorite is my Rumblefish XL. I also have a MIJ fretless Jazz and a D-Basses P-Bass clone. I prefer passive basses. By using the settings on my amp, using the controls on the instruments and varying where I pluck the strings, I can get whatever sound I want and need. That still doesn't stop me fron GASsing...current GAS is for a Skyline Glaub.

    MY favorite!

  9. It's pretty much heads up between my Musicman Stingray and my Epiphone Jack Casady Signature bass.

The Stingray has that delicious fat, chunky Fender-like tone that goes with just about any kind of music.

The Casady can be set to produce almost upright-like tones, but, can get nasty too.

I play 5's and 4's, but my favorite 4 stringer is my '79 Kramer DMZ 5000. An oldie but goodie.

Fodera Emperor IV's are nice. I wouldn't mind an Imperial Elite IV. Mmmmm. Fodera.

B.C. Rich Mockingbird's. Just love their style.

Roscoe LG-3000. Possibly my next bass (unless I come across a wad of extra cash to get the Fodera instead). Comfortable for me, good sound and even nice looks.

My favorite 4 string fretted is my VW Monarch. I enjoy this bass much more than I ever expected. It just a blast to play.

My favorite 4 string fretless is my Fender Jaco Relic. Plays/sounds fantastic.
