Road Angel, Without You, or Mamaloi.
China Grove. That's one of those songs that still sounds fresh to me even though it is such a classic rock staple. Least favorite: Black Water.
Takin' it to the Streets
Long Train Running
Another vote for Long Train Running.
Where's the poll? I wanna be able to vote on this one...
Ok, I'll play ... my favorite Doobie Bros. song is "Long Train Running", which just happens to be the same as Cornbreads favorite Doobie Bros. song.
"LTR" too. It's the obvious choice but ...so what?
It was one of the first "serious" basslines I learned when I started playing (loved Tiran Porter). Loved the guitar lines, too.
"Another Park, Another Sunday"...the 'ballad' with the cool Emaj7 voicing from the Vices album.
Porter plays an incredibly melodic line throughout & even does a quasi-'solo' during the outro. The guitar solo on this track is amazing...Jazz-y!
Back in my high school daze, we played(attempted)this tune & the guitarist/keyboardist had this solo nailed(& the solo on "China Grove"). I hated him!
(Truthfully, my friend was really a major help in my developement...if you're like me, a tone-deaf weasle, & ya know anyone with 'perfect pitch', stick with them!).
I also like "Rio"(cool section in 3/4) & "8th Avenue Shuffle" from Takin' It To The Streets...
There's also some tuneage from the One Step Closer album I like..."South Bay Strut", "No Stoppin' Us Now", etc
Was it Willie Weeks playin' bass on this record? Damn, I forget...
Minute By minute
We always called this one the diarrhea song...just keeps me running
I forgot to mention that any song with Michael McDonald in it is not considered a DB song, so "Takin' it to the Streets" is not a DB song.
Does that go for Steely Dan songs too?
No, if Fagen and Becker are there, it's Steely Dan, regardless of who else is there.
Wat about Michael McDonald tunes...are they still considered Michael McDonald tunes if he sings on them?
The only thing I ever liked about the Doobie Brothers was Michael McDonalds's voice - an awesome sound!
I came here to vote for Long Train Coming, who cares who was in the band and when and why and if they had kippers for breakfast?
Anyway I am in a band that covers the song but I cannot get the harmony. To anyone who wants to point out that I dont do harmony, its too obvious.
Even Jeff Baxter?
Skunk rules, period.
