My DIY mashup of a Bronco body, cheap aftermarket Strat dual coil humbucker, Musicmaster bridge, Mustang controlplate, Jag SS neck and Gotoh BG350 tuners. My "Jagoncomastang" Or my Hofner Ignition Club I converted to VVT. It's a tossup and depends on how I feel that day. But my favorite sounding is still my Mustang LE PJ but the two above are considerably lighter and therefore much easier for me to play.
My reworked '78 Musicmaster is always my go to. The other two I have are a '97 Squier Musicmaster and Bronco, both have advantages over the other.
Of my two shorties, my Squier Musicmaster Vista is the leader in the clubhouse. (With hope it'll soon be my only shorty.)
My Birdsong Hy5 fits me like a glove. Balance, comfort, neck profile, easy to get a low setup, RH placement: perfection! Bonus: sounds like the voice of God.
For now, the Japanese Fender Mustang, but I have every confidence that will change on the day that I play a US Music Man short-scale Stingray (or the short- or medium-scale St. Vincent bass if they ever make it). I'm also pretty interested in trying out a Guild JS II Jetstar bass, but I've yet to play one.
