Whoa, quick on the upload, not so hot on the D/L.

I'm also sitting on a Laptop far from my WAP.

This one features more locations to searve you:

    I only got 2969kbps/358kbps.

I think my weak link is a crappy 802.11b router that I paid 10 dollars for several years ago.

"These tests require JAVA plug-in and JAVASCRIPT enabled. Disable Norton Internet Security, and Zone Alarm PRO if the test hangs at the end [more info]. These speed test applets work using the official java.com plugin! Use a simple applet to verify your Java version. If you have not already done so, we recommend you install the java.com plugin (visit, and click 'Download'). The ancient Microsoft JVM bundled with Explorer, is NOT supported."

GREAT way to ensure you get viruses and Trojans!! :meh:

This is at work, by the way. Work being Western Michigan University, and I'm one floor above the main switch for the internet.

Compared to the average of 3306 tests from rr.com:
    * download is 13% better, upload is 21% worse

This is with Time Warner Cable. I've been pleased with the cable so far.

Turning off your blocker for one legit site for 30 seconds is not a problem if you aren't a paranoid freak or trolling like Bruce. :rollno:

8874kbps incoming, 940kbps outgoing on the speakeasy speed test server from NYC. The California server for the dslreports.com only turned in about half that.

Better than I thought it would be living right next to Syracuse University. They bog down our part of the grid regularly. I'll be curious to see what it clocks at when the students are in town and Phish tix go on sale somewhere.

I was advised by my IT dept. , not to enable Java, as this was a known source of Trojans.

I accidentally enabled it a few months ago and my internet access ground to a halt - once it was professionally uninstalled, it was fine again!

"StrangeBrew" is a known Java virus that has widely infected computers in my organisation that have had Java enabled....:meh:
