At what point did Fender transition to the "Modern C" neck that seems to be on all their standard products now? It seems to me that the earliest American Standard P basses still had the old baseball bat neck, but that seems to have changed sometime in the late 1990s. Not sure whether it was a sharp transition or whether the necks gradually got shallower. Of course there were the famous flat, wide necks in the early 60s and 80s... Does anyone know when the Modern C came in? Or I guess more generally, what years are associated with which Fender neck shapes?
