When/how to use compressor/enhancer?

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by lino, Aug 20, 2003.

  1. Hi all,

I have a Boss ME-6B, with a compressor/enhancer in it. Since I've not used it yet for a gig, I'm not sure:
    1) When to use it (for all patches, or just for specific situations, such as slapping?)
    2) How to use it, i.e. which settings work best.
Parameters are: sustain, attack, enhance freq, enh. level, total level. I find it hard to hear exactly what each parameter does.

Basically I need to know if it's *always* good to use it, or if it's possible to spoil your sound with it in certain situations.

    Any advice please?

    Thanx

If your song has a lot of dynamic variation, turn it off. If you want to play superloud/superhard all the time, turn it on.
