Do you have a situation where you think its OK?

I think it is OK if you are:

    1. Excited about something in a positive way.
    2. Raising your voice for emphasis about that particular subject.
    3. In danger.

Any other times? Specific situations where you felt you needed to or it was OK?

If I need to be louder for someone to hear me then I'll speak up. Otherwise I keep it down.

In an argument? No, that seems to make matters worse.

An ambiguous answer for an ambiguous question.

    Sometimes.

Thank you. Beat me to it.

It's incredible how they can tune you out until you rattle the windows.

    Or touch them.

Put an iPad or phone in their hands with a game running, and every form of communication is lost until the battery dies or its shut off.

Not to derail, but that's why we do zero screens Monday-Thursday. No TV, phone, pad, computer or anything. The oldest will be in 3rd grade next school year and will have PC homework I'm sure. We'll burn that bridge when we get to it. :D

Sorry. Back to yelling at people. :rage:

I hear you, toys after chores.

But sometimes it's a Godsend as well. With girls 5 and 9, things can get quite catty when they are bored. They do make great travel pacifiers

When two contractors showed up to my construction site wearing flip flops, what appeared to be pajama pants and having no hard hats in their posession, and I have a guy working 200' in the air. I had never had to yell at grown men like they were children. Heck, I don't even yell at children.

If the only way you can get your child's attention is to yell at them, the reason is probably because they don't like you.
