I think that right now, I'm enjoying the kind of moment that life is all about, albeit a rather "simplified" version.
The R&B band, together for 6 months, has :
    1) Settled on a new "non-flakey" drummer
    2) The core band is sounding TIGHT & HOT
    3) We've secured "gainful employment"
2 nights a week- Friday nights, Sunday afternoons,
right on the beach here in California (69 degrees here today, fellas!:D )
    But most importantly-
I'm rockin' the house, and I feel it from the audience-
Not ego-just pride in what has been accomplished through individual and group hard work & PRACTICE-
the Key along with leadership (that happens to be me) AND co-operation.
When the music is Right, and the vibe is there, you can feel the warmth, and I think...
THIS is how it is meant to be-
    New bass, sound dialed in,
    I sincerely thank
    You Know Who.

It's great when things harmonize like that. Enjoy it.

Thanks, I sure am enjoying it.
And one thing I hope was implied:
The BASS PLAYER is the real deal-
WE are the foundation on which everything is built,
and the bass serves to meld everything together into one smooth, rockin' in-the-pocket groove, no matter what the style.
Many overlook the role of the bassist, instead looking at the guitar, horn, or as in my R&B band's
deliberate ,intentional case (!) the HOT "chick" singer-(This was planned).
When it happens, and WE know what's happening its all that much sweeter, 'cause as is the case with
TALKBASS and our axes and our gear, etc.
    We are blessed!
  4. Ah yes Larry, life is indeed good. Now, please post some pix of chics in bikinis. :D

    Hey Mike-
Yes Nancy, of "Nancy & the NghtCrawlers"
can sing up a pretty good storm, and has a lot of soul in her voice.
However, it does not at all hurt that she looks good enough & moves it around enough to make a dead man....get the picture??
    No way, my man!
$5 Cover charge gets you a front row seat
(mention TalkBass for 1/2 off your first ten drinks!)
Me- I'm right behind that sweet l'il thing-
Best seat in the house-pun intended.
    Yes, life is good!!
    Get spiritual!;)

sounds like things are going great for you and the band...awesome! I'm experiencing similar stuff--we've gone over the 6-8 month growth thing and are now just "groovin". Makes rehearsal and gigs much more fun when you aren't so worried about the mechanics of each song.

    yes life is very good.

    Hey Guys:
TX, yeh it IS good to be KING (king=BassPlayer)
LOTS of hard work behind all that Groove that the
audience just "takes for granted" so to speak-
Almost better than S-E-X !!! (shhhh! Here comes my wife!)

Michael, come on out to da Beach here-
(Venice Beach, CA no less, home of the chainsaw jugglers) & I'll buy you the first round of 55-gallon Chivas-At least that's what the BarOwner SAYS is in the bottle at $8 a shot!!
But I gotta warn you-It cooled down CONSIDERABLY
yesterday- It was sunny but the temp dropped down to about 65 degrees!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr....
    :D
