Do you ever twist the knobs? I find myself doing that all the time. Crazy thing is that I hear the change in my head. Heh.
Do you also scowl at the drummer who isn't there and chastise him to stay in time? BTW: what do "the voices" say? ;-)
No... When I bought my first electric guitar (1976 Stratocaster hardtail natural) I was showing my mother. Just strumming it, and I moved the 5 way switch, then strummed it again. She said "What did you do? It sounds louder now..." Nothing ma, just moved a toggle switch nothing to do with the volume in an unplugged electric.
All the time. Hand goes right to the volume knob. No others though. I’m usually playing in passive mode.
No I don't. I don't even really touch the knobs much when I'm plugged in. I play a P, set it and forget it.
Luckly, the bass I grab for unplugged playing has one knob. I don't reach for it when plugged in on that particular bass, either.
Funny observation, this post. Never thought about it, but whenever I sit down to play a bass unplugged, I instinctively make sure the volume and tone are up. Force of habit, I guess
No, since I don't play live unplugged, I don't practice unplugged. Yea, yell out, "YOU'RE RUSHING" every couple of minutes just to make practice more real!
Sometimes. Also, sometimes, I will sit down with the bass, put my headphones on, and then actually never get around to plugging the bass in, but I don't remove my headphones!!!
I've been in the habit of turning the volume up when playing something and turn it back down when done, no matter if I'm plugged in or not- it's a nearly Pavlovan response to me now! The wife laughs when she sees me do it. I remind her that the worst thing is forgetting to do it at a gig, especially at the end of a set- "WHERE IS THAT CRAZY HOWLING SOUND COMING FROM???" I also have a habit of changing the PUP toggle as well! If I don't, I'll forget to do it in during the "real deal"! Of course, I also instantly salivate at any gig if I smell chicken wings!
I do that. I also talk to myself. I also get into arguments with myself. People think I'm a little touched.
