When you build a bass, what strings do you use?

I'm curious ... when you build a bass for a customer, what strings do you first put on the bass? What gauge, brand, type and what are your reasons for doing so?

  2. Most customers have different preferences. The strings you want are the strings you get.

I'm partial to DR's for my personal stuff.

Does everyone ask their customer or is there a standard you like to use?

I do ask first, If it does not matter the brand (moreso it's usually the gauge), then i use DR's (Guitar or Bass)

Customer choice is first. D'Addario and Ernie Balls are what I keep around.

It's part of the initial order form, if no preference is stated(which rarely happens). I use Rotosound 66's which I keep in bulk at my shop.
