When you decide it's time for a PU upgrade...

    ...what kind of a PU (or a PU set) do you choose?

    (By "bass'character" I mean your appreciation of the woodenry's sound by itself:bright,thumpy,mid-scooped,etc)

    I'm not sure I understand the question...could you maybe be a bit more specific?
    The words you're using (complements, enhances) are pretty similar...
     
  3. i guess it depends on what bass you have...if its a quality wood that you like the sound of, then i'd look for pickups that bring out the sound of the bass itself, which i am guessing is what you mean by enhancing the sound...as in bringing the natural sound out more...if you have a squier, i'd look for a pickup that would comensate for what you feel is lacking

    Yeah, enhances and compliments would go together better than compensate and compliments do.

    I always go for a pickup that will compliment me. I need the ego boost and the confidence before gigs.
