After many years of thought on this, I finally bought that Bongo that I always wanted. Agonized over the purchase for years and my wife finally encouraged me to buy it. A wonderful wife who encourages me to get what I want AND a new bass on it's way. Does life get any better?
Got this one from Gain Stage Music (http://www.gainstagemusic.com/). Never bought from them before but they had the one I wanted in stock and they were great to work with!
HNBD and no, it really doesn't. for me though its "you need another svt for when you blow up these 3" HNGHNGHNGHNG
Nice bass. Definitely NEVER hesitate when she says "go ahead" I ALWAYS buy when she says YES, 'cause if I don't want it later, I have it to trade and she might not be in the charitable mood when I want that next thing - she's the boss when it comes to money 'cause if it were up to me we'd a house worth of cool gear and no house to put it in All the other homes guys would be jealous of my rig. P.S. LOVE that colour!
Maybe it's just me but I get nervous when my wife encourages me to spend money on bass gear, I get the feeling she feels authorized to spent the same amount of money in something for her! ...good thing I don't buy expensive stuff! Nice bass! Congrats!
Or its a trap, and when you could have used that money 6 months down the road, its all your fault for listening to the woman!
My wife has been telling me for a while to just get what I know I'll like - even if it cost more - and quite buying and selling and losing money looking for something I hope I'll like as much for less money. Here's my fretted bass: And here is the rough cut of a fretless Roscoe 5 being built to pair up with it: She tells me to buy Roscoe basses, and she's a keeper for all kinds of other reasons that I can't detail here.
In all fairness, after playing for 30 years I've never bought myself a new bass. The few that I own were given to me many years ago with the exception of a Kramer Duke that I bought on a whim a few years ago. I guess it's about time.
Well, there is another way to get what you want without worrying about your wife...get rid of your wife, worked for me...
I have one of those wives also. She is constantly telling me not to cheap myself out. Get a good one "you deserve good equipment". Wonderful...
I fell for that one once. I buy a new amp and cab spending about $1800 Next thing I know shes gettin all new kitchen cabinets along with flooring and a stove and dishwasher.. +1 on on the nice bass
My wife gets tattoos. Those things (good ones anyway) aren't cheap. Not quite what my Roscoe's cost, but pretty close.
