Where can I find a red Jazz with black PG and maple board?

  1. I'm considering getting a Jazz bass sometime in the future. I've been looking around the web and it seems nearly impossible to find a red Fender Jazz with black pickguard and black block inlays on a maple board. Can you get them like this from the factory? I'm sorry if that's a stupid question but I'm not really down with the Fender product line.

I'd like something that looks like this: sjb75bmrd1.jpg

I've seen a Fender with this colour combo on ebay once, but that was years ago. Is it the sort of thing I'd have to put together myself?

I don't believe that Fender makes that bass combo currently. Your options would be to get something custom (Nordy / LowEnd / Lakland / Bacchus) which offers black blocks and binding or go for a Fender Custom Shop.

It looks like it would be rare to see a Fender model like that because you basically want Candle Apple or Dakota Red (60's colours) with a maple neck with black binding which is a 70's feature. I am not sure they ever made them like that except with custom orders!

Didn't the American Series with the S1 come in that combo?

  4. It certainly did - I got a chrome red J with black guard and rosewood board but a maple board was definitely available...dot inlays though.

  5. I'd love to get something like this, but I just can't afford it :(

Perhaps I'll look at modding an SX or something of that nature... Any other suggestions?
