I mostly go through the Bay, but I've gone to local shops with varying degrees of success (in that I found, according to the travel brochure, "Gambling With Effects (Literally), Or:" a Deluxe Electric Mistress).

    I've bought used from:

    talkbass
    harmony central
    the gear page
    tonefactor forums

That's it. I guess I am not a real ebay or craigslist person. I've always preferred forums.

I haven't tried the gear page or tonefactor beore. I'll check those out.

I personally like selling on Craigslist because it's usually no frills easy local deals. You don't have to ship paypal etc.

There's this place in Houston called Rockin' Robin Guitars that I used to buy my pedals from, but now that I'm in OK I'm relying on eBay and pawn shops.

I think I've bought all of my used pedals right here on TalkBass. Just got my Sadowsky DI today. Never been burned once. Well, maybe a little on a dbx preamp, but not enough to result in negative feedback.

  11. Talkbass or Ebay for me. I've purchased a couple of hundred items between the two and havn't really had any issues yet.

I buy most my new stuff from Ebay too now I think about it

  20. There's a pawn shop down the road that's owned by a former soundman/sax player who knows what he's doing. He prices at 1/2 of retail max. I bought a practically new Boss CEB-3 for $40 and change, and there's a monitor down there for $60 that I might pick up. Most of the guitars are sub $150, including a very nice Squier Jazz.
