Ok, you love your bass we know that.... but where do you keep it? I have a shell case that those nice people at Fender gave me for when I want to take it on the bus or on an Aeroplane but what about when you are at home? I prefer to keep the P in the lounge on a quick-lok stand (always handy for when I need a good pluck) but I have a friend who keeps his in a case under his bed - but to me thats a crime. I know many of you will have more than just one but Im talking about your 'baby', you know your sweat pea, love thing, your honeypie. You know that I know that you know what I mean. (Not sure if this is the right place for this - but we will soon find out if not!)
I got 2 stands that I keep my basses on, usually when I'm out here on the computer I have my SX BG205 out here with me to jam to some songs on my playlist or to just think stuff up. I have my Ibanez GSR200 sitting on another stand in the house...then my Acoustic Guitar is in a gig bag sitting in my room...it gets no love since I picked up the bass .
I keep my Aguilar set-up next to my computer and my Ampeg B100R in the family room next to my 'Lazy Boy'. I usually keep the Stingray and the Skyline on stands near one of the amps. My MTD and Fender FMT stay in their cases
My 410 and head are set up in the living room, and usuallymy sooper squier is leaning against it. My MAI Jazz Dlx is always in the case, if it isn't in my hands.
Two hang on the wall right next to my amp setup; the third is in a padded gigbag behind my couch. The couch is curved so it actually sits in a pocket. Low traffic, low impact, nice safe place to keep my first and most nostalgic bass.
Hanging on the wall, except the bass I'm playing at the moment which I'll put down in a floor stand of some kind.
My baby, the thumb BO 4-string, stays on a hercules stand (sweet stand, by the by) about 5 feet from my bed. I'm paranoid. Mmm.
The P-Bass usually lives on the floor up in my loft Or in a chair... Love the picture but I really hope you dont have termites!
If all three are not in their hard cases, then one is on a stand and the other two are in the cases. I think the hard case is the best, safest place for a bass. But if it's in the case, maybe I'll get it out and practice tomorrow or the next day. If it's on a stand, I can hardly walk past it without picking it up. So I get a lot more practice done if one bass is out handy. Whether in the case or on a stand, I try to avoid leaning them against an outside wall, or putting the stand near an outside wall. The temperature is more stable nearer innner walls. I also avoid placing them near air conditioning and heating vents for the same reason. The cases usually lean against an inside wall or lie flat under the bed. One of these days, I'm going to build a display case similar to some gun cases I've seen. Basses (and the odd guitar) would hang in the case. Glass doors and a light in the top will allow easy viewing. Weatherstripping and caulk and maybe a fan (with filter) to slightly pressurize the cabinet to keep out dust, and maybe even some way to keep the humidity stable. But then they look tempting to thieves. . . . Maybe the wooden case should be built around a steel-cage frame and the windows in the doors should be 3/4" plexiglass? Just a thought.
They all sit to my right as I type. But they are in a warwick 3 rock stand next to my amp, and perpidicular to my computer desk in my basement.
HeY gROOVE mUnKy whats the other two? That jazz is a nice slightly different color combo I have not seen yet. Fender or some clone? ( I cant really tell )
It's a Fender Highway 1 Jazz with the Honey Blonde Laquer finish. It's got a sweet slap tone but I like the quality of the MIA P-Bass better.
HI! I always have one of the Sadowsky's in my gigbag along with something else, '67 Jazz, Fodera, and Alembic in their cases, other Sadowsky's and Pensa on stands so I can practice. They're also cool to look at Rob
