Do you prefer playing higher on the fret/finger board or on higher-pitched strings?
Wherever the check doesn't bounce.
Seriously, depends on the song.
Usually I'll I like to play around the area around the 5-10 frets because they are more comfortable to play around and I think the E on the d-strings sounds kinda weak ...but for some song you have to play in the first position (to minimize hand movement).
Blah as rickbass said it depends on the song.
i love the fat sound the lower tone stings are my favourite, right at the top of the neck, i find it gives me that punch in the gut sound.
This is where a B-string comes in handy. You can play higher up on the neck, but remain low, and minimize left-hand movement. I like playing around the middle of the neck. Funny thing is that my band members prefer me to stay close to the nut, but play the higher strings (they told me this 2 days ago when we were recording). So I have been doing that too. Like rickbass reckons, it depends on the song.
Yeah thats where I prefer to play, but again, it depends on the song.
I prefer to stay in the area of 0..4th fret.. it sounds better that way imho..
80% of my playing comes in the 6-12 fret area, which is one of the many reasons that I like 5 and 6 stringers.
I saw a band a few nights ago called Stara Zagora and their bassist played a Stingray 4 string, and played almost exclusively above the 12th fret.
1st time that I've seen anyone play that way.
from 0 to 9 on the E and A string, but i'm working on the lower strings now, trying to play all over
I tend to play all over the place. No real preference. Though, I do find myself between 0-4 on the E and A, and between 6-20 on my D and G, which is mostly harmonic work, solo's and of course, when I'm using effects...
"Theres no money made past the 5th fret"
I play everywhere..depends on the song..like thers have said..
what is "carrots" btw?
oh, that's so wrong
lol i just wanted to see if anyone would react
ok, ok, you got me
Shoot, I wanted to see a pic of your 2-inlay, 5-fret, neck.
Now you got me thinking how i could make a 5 fret neck
carrots, definitely carrots.
personally i like the sound of the higher notes on the E string
i play from open strings to the 20th fret.
