back in the very early eighties, i played a beautiful bass , it had an odd number of strings... 5.
I was at the shop to check out a Kubicki X Factor in my search for extended downward range.
This other bass, though , and I connected so strongly that i placed an order then and there for what was an outrageous $2000 exotic boutique bass... that was the day i was infected with a disease i suffer from this very day...i played this bass for 11 years without straying. It was made by the legendary Michael Tobias and it is for sale at a shop in Fl.
I thought it was in Japan somewhere all these years..
Tobias Signature #404- just thought i'd share the nolstalgia:

  2. Aside from the odd shaping around the bottom curve (which I'm not a huge fan of) that is one incredible looking bass - and I'm sure, being Tobias built, that it plays and sounds stunningly good too!

Awesome Adrian! It still looks like it's in extremely good condition too.

    Mike is an artist.

He has been for a long long long time.

....what makes it truly amazing is how cool a person he is on top of it.
