I have a '71 Jazz bass and it has the original pickguard. It is beautiful. So, why to all the new pickguards looks so crappy? The swirls and color variations suck. They also seem more brown than red. Can anyone tell me who makes one that is more of a vintage red look for a P bass?

Anyone deal with these guys? http://www.grguitars.com/
They have some that look about right.

Oh and I've heard that orig pickguards don't meet the current USA standerds so... they can't look the same

I have dealt with Gregg Rogers Guitars twice in the last two weeks - ordering electronics parts I desperately needed in order to fix an out-of-commission guitar. Both times I was delighted with the service and the shipping.

They charged me $9 for "standard" shipping a small package (4 CTS pots) the slowest way possible, but - get this - it arrived in two business days! And everything was packaged well enough to survive a plane crash.

Im curious about his reliced hardware. I just bought a new ash tray for my p bass of ebay and his "worn" version looks awesome. Wish I had gotten that instead.

Check out WDMusic. I have had several Pickguards made by them and they are excellent.
