Where to get an X Ray?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Dave Siff, May 25, 2001.

  1. This may sound weird, but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I need to get an X Ray of the neck of my Carl Thompson bass. The reason is, I'm considering having a pro luthier shave a bit of wood off the neck to make it more playable in the lower register, but he needs to see where the truss rod channel is before he does it. I'm assuming I can't just walk into a doctor's office with my gig bag and ask them to X Ray my bass.
    So, anyone got any ideas?
  2. Might sound weird, but if you have a metal fabrication shop anywhere around you, I would ask them.

Machine shops and metal fab shops often have to have things X-rayed to check for microfissures and metal fatigue.

I can't rightly think of anywhere else to ask though.

    Hope it helps.

  3. Thanks, FF!

Another shot would be welding services. They have to use x-rays at times. Your Yellow Pages may list them under "x-ray laboratories-industrial."

I guess this isn't covered by your HMO?
