    Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting a preamp that has no effects loop.
I'm currently using a couple of "stomp-box" effects units.
I am planning on going from, my Bass > into effects > then out to input on preamp.
Are there ANY disadvantages to running effects this way and not using an "effects loop"?
Some people I know, rather NOT use the effects loop on their amps, and wire their's as above, saying it's quieter than going through the loop.

  2. stomp boxes are best between the bass and the preamp.

19" units are best between te preamp and the poweramp.

-10dB / +4dB issue.. stompers have different output than 19" units..

stomp boxes seem work best between the bass and the amp. Rack mount effects units should be placed in the amp's effects loop.

I tried putting a stomp box in my GKs effects loop once and got some real unusual noise.

you know where to stick them......

....where those other guys said. -Though you should experiment with placement of rack effects and pre-amp, as well as pedal order, different gear sounds different. Allo's point remains, however.
