my two would have to be....
Steve Harris (iron maiden)
Geddy Lee (rush)
Stuart Zender (jamiroquai)
Matt Freeman (Rancid)
Chris Squire and Mike Rutherford
As far as my approach to the role of bass and playing in a three-piece, I would have to say Geddy and John Entwistle.
Flea and Rage against the machines bassist
reed mathis, mike frost, jaco, owen biddle.
For me it would be :
Jaco pastorius and john paul Jones: JP & JPJ
Brian Marshall - Creed
Call me a young'n, but...
Che Cheng and Sam Rivers.
Smooth, aggressive, ane tasty lines.
Marcus miller and James Jamerson
Anthony Jackson and James Jamerson.
Hard to pick just two, but Victor Wooten for his innovation and mastery of the instrument, and John Entwistle for his style and speed with the finger technique
You mean Tim Commerford.
For me it's a combination of 3; Pino, Roscoe Beck and Rocco Prestia
Jason Newsted/David Ellefson/Geezer Butler.
John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee.
Stu Hamm for his amazing technique.
Cliff Burton for his Genius use of effects and his brilliant sound.
steve harris for getting me into bass
cliff burton for finger playing style and soloing
david ellefson for stage presence, picking technique and sound
If I had to narrow it to two, it would be James Jamerson and Sting.
