Zoom has a compatibility list here: Operation Confirmed SD/SDHC Cards but it's wrong. I got a SanDisk SDSDH-032G and it wouldn't format. Returned it to the store and tried another one, same problem. The 2gb card that came with the recorder formats and works just fine, so I think the recorder is OK and I'm doing the right steps to format. The Q3HD's firmware is current at 1.15 (there's only one available level on the Zoom website) So my question is, does anybody know of a 32gb SDHC card that will actually work with the Q3HD? Reports of other sizes/types that actually work are also welcome. Thanks!
Good advice. I found that others have also had problems with SanDisk 32gb cards. Apparently there are variations in different production runs and submodels of the card. I found references on the Zoom forum from two people who listed specific 32gb cards that worked in their experience: PNY P-SDHC32G10-EF Wintec FileMate Professional SDHC
For what it's worth, I found this one in-store at CompUSA that works. It is a micro-SD card + adapter to fit an SD card slot. As a class 4 it's only guaranteed a speed of 4 mb/second but I think that only affects transferring files to/from the computer. I tested it in the store with 1080p/30fps video with the highest audio quality settings for a few minutes and it seemed to work fine. Patriot Signature Line 32gb microSDHC class 4
