Ive been doing some research into 8x10 cabs latley, but i only know of 2 brands that make them, Ampeg and SWR. Who else makes them, and what are they like?

Carvin makes one. It has no bottom.
I think Mesa Boogie makes/made one, not sure.
    Fender makes one.
Crate used to make one (ack).
    Ashdown makes one.
    Marshall makes one.
    Traynor did make one.

And that's all I could think of.

Peavey makes 'em. They're actually not bad and can be found cheap. I have had both Peavey and Ameg 810s I would describe the Ampegs as tighter.
And the Peaveys as louder, lots of lows and indestructable.

I recommend them for the street price (~$400 ish)

  4. EBS.

  5. Now GK makes one. Details coming soon!

Hey, does the Eden 8x10 have a kickback roller/handle design like Ampeg (and "borrowed" by SWR)???

I think every bass player should own at least one 810 cab in their life for the sake of future "when I was your age" stories.

Although, I should add that most people I know who have owned them, including myself, no longer do.

    Bump.

I owned one. I have decided that 2 410's are easier to manage. It's like carring a refrigerator everywhere.

I'm using a pair of 410s now. I'm convinced the "makes it's own dolly" design would be more manageable. I can see you disagree, though...

disagree, it's just a majority of places we play have stairs. Not cool to have that thing bumping around on stairs.

You'll have to excuse me, but I'm from Texas... so what are "stairs?"

    ;)

Actually, I played an upstairs venue a couple of weeks ago. Getting the two 410s up and down wasn't the most pleasant part of the evening! I can see how the 810 could be worse, though.

Ampeg 8x10 has plastic sliding bars on the back for going up stairs. Really smooth pull, as long as you have some muscle on the pulling end :)

I'm having trouble thinking of Australian venues that DONT have stairs.

Kirbs I'd seriously reconsider buying a fridge. Crikey and Eden 4x10 weighs the same as I do. Could barely pick it up, especially at 3am after a performing my guts out. An 8x10 would be worse.........

So you think the 4x10 on top of the 1x15 is the better option? A 2x10 doesnt really do anything for me, i dunno why, just probably the fact that i can get twice as much for for a few hundred bucks more, so it isnt really worth it. Im gunna need alot of convincing to get a 2x10 :D
