Well, I have been thinking about ditchin the Hartke and moving to something else. I have a 4ohm Avatar B210 and a 4ohm SB112. I play mostly rock and some funk/disco, and play small/medium rooms and outdoors. My choices so far are:

    1) Use my BDDI with a QSC PLX. Maybe the new PLX2 1104?

    2) Eden WT550 used

    3) SWR SM 500 used

Any suggestions? My budget is probably around 600 - 700.

What exactly is your sound? The Yorkville 800 and Traynor YBA 200 and Kustom Groovebass are great choices in that price range. I like the Eden idea as well if you like the Eden sound.

I try to go for a hard rocking sound with some thump and bite. :meh: And get a little funky at times. The main problem I have is that all the stores around here have crap so it is difficult to find a decent selection to test out. :(

I know the feeling. I used to go pretty much to the local GC until I realized that there were other great stores- albiet a bit further away. I'd say go for the Eden or the pre-power. I think that the preamp and poweramp would be the best actually... Get as many watts as you can afford, and then when you have enough $, you can upgrade the preamp.

I use the older Wt-300 and I love it. I have a growly low end
tone well suited to classic rock, soul and Motown/Stax type
stuff. It fits the bill well for me.

I was visiting Funkster last week and I saw he used the Wt-400
as his main gig rig w 2 2x10 Aggies. He was very happy with
that as well. He used to use in in a few bands including
a Led Zep cover band and a Kiss cover band.

The WT-550 should have plenty of Mojo for you. I also
use a SWR SM-900 and that does have a bit more of a
transparent sound. If I was going to own only one, the SWR
or my Eden, I would opt for the Eden.

I have no experience with pre/power so I can't speak to that
but the 550 is a fine piece of equipment and used is the
    right way to go.

Hi-fi into an old tube amp
Just make sure your amp head can handle a 2-ohm load.

The SWR and Eden will both work great. The SWR in stereo @ 4 ohms per side and the Eden mono into 2 ohms. Both have very flexible EQs and good clean sounds. Both are nice and light. If you like a cleaner, slightly colder, and have a good sounding bass sound go with the SWR. If you like a warmer sound thats still HiFi, or if your bass needs a little more "help" from the amp, go with the Eden. No right or wrong choice there IMO.

Oh, and I see you've got a BDDI ... one of those as a stomp box can easily transform a clean clear SWR rig into a snarling rock monster ... so you'll have it covered what ever kind of sound you want.

Almost bought a WT550 on Evil Bay. Chickened out. :bag:

The PLX2 1104 is growing on me. 550 Watts per side at 4ohms stereo, only 13 lbs and $599! I dont think they are in stores yet tho. :meh:
