    Welcome to TalkBass,Bob.
Take your Bass to your local music store and play every 60-100 watt amp they have there, and get the one that sounds the best to you. What sounds good to me may not sound good to you,and vice-versa.

Im a big fan of the Fender Bassman series, but you should let your ears make the decision for you.

would you like a 100 watt tube amp, or solid state? if you have the money go with an Ampeg v4bh (100 watt raw tube power!) and run an Ampeq 15" Classic cab. if you're not going for tube, then you at least have to have a 12" or 15" speaker in your amp. in my opinion smaller ibanez bass amps sound better and have a lot better punch then a smaller fender bassman does. but the larger fender bassman amps sound pretty good though. but no doubt about it, when you get the money invest in an ampeg tube amp. rock on man! :)

  8. Welcome here too, Bob.

Amen to what Mike N says. Letting someone tell you which amp to get is like having someone tell you which clothes to wear. Different amps appeal to different tastes.

Just make sure you take your own bass to try them out, not some ultra expensive thing a salesperson offers.

Once you find one that you think sounds best, you could put up another thread here and ask what people think about the price and the dependability/quality of the amp. Those aspects aren't very subjective.

if you're looking for a smooth sound, the 100watts v-4bh is the best you can own in this class. It sounds really thunderous, and in my opinion is an amazing amp. The cabs for this one, in my opinion, is the svt210he (for the high), and the svt15 (for great low tone).
