Where'd you hear that? I thought the difference was one was single-coil, the other inline hum-cancelling.

The 9CBJD (dual coils) is more smooth and polite.
The 9CBJS (single coils) has more bite and growl.

  4. no no no no no. Classic Bass series
The 9CBJS are low noise Single Coil Pickups.

The 9CBJD1 are hum cancelling Dual Coil Pickups - Deep Tone
The 9CBJD3 are hum cancelling Dual Coil Pickups - Bright Tone
    as seen on bestbassgear.com

9CBJD1 is the deep tone. I have them in an Alder/rosewood Jazz and they are very nice pups.

  6. yeah i was thinking deep tone. i heard davidmwilson's clip of the barts and thought they sounded fantastic, but i still havent decided on either bart calssics or fender SCN's. ahhh decisions decisions(the fenders are also 50 or 60 more)
