Out of these 6 basses which do you like most? (just going generic here, doesn't matter about the different models of each one ) Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Fender American Standard p Bass Musicman Stingray Rickenbacker 4003 Warwick Corvette Gibson Thunderbird None of these
I once had one that I traded for an Ibanez Atk1200 Prestige, I already as well traded Anyway, maybe the most playable bass I've ever placed my guilty hands on, even if I'm talkin' about a 2010 version, so with present specs, except CS pickups, which I really don't dig Cheers, Wallace
Of those I find that I go to a J for most things, it is very versatile and will work for anything. My P would be second. Not as versatile, but will still work for anything. My Thunderbirds are great rock basses, but kind of a one trick pony. So in order: J P Thunderbird MM The Warwick I've never played, and Rics just don't do it for me.
Between those I've choosen the Tbird cause of the look,IMO one of the most beautiful basses. But I'm actually a P-guy
I own all of those except the Warwick (though I did have a fretless Corvette at one point) and my favorite is my Precision, with the Jazz bass being a close second. I lump the Rick, MM, and Thunderbird in 3rd place. They're all fantastic basses, but I could not see having any of those as my only bass. They all have a very specific feel and sound that while great, are not as versatile as the good old P or J bass. I will also throw out that for the "other" option, the Spector NS-2 is an incredible bass.
I'm a proud owner of that bass. I wasn't planning on purchasing it when I went to Guitar Center. I guess you can see it purchased me. My MIJ Jazz is starting to get jealous.
My Pedulla Pentabuzz is my baby at this point so I voted 'other', but as far as 'standard' basses go, my Fender Hwy One Jazz is my go to bass.
