Which bass through which cab?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Michael Jewels, Dec 12, 2005.

  1. Do you think that certain basses sound better through a certain cabinet?

For example: A P-bass, which has a round-ish tone - does it sound better through 15s, which would emphasize its thump, or are 10s or 12s better because they bring out more of the mids and highs on a bass that already has a thick bottom?

How about a Stingray, a Rick, or an EBO?

You can be as detailed as you want in your explanation; I'm not so interested in the brand of amplifer or cabinet, rather the size of the speaker(s) in the cabinet and why you think they make a particular bass sound its best.

If you think that a certain speaker size sounds better for a certain genre, add that in too.

Naturally there's no right or wrong answer, just opinions.

I don't know if this has been done before, but I thought it would be worth a try.
