  1. Ok, I'm looking for a good 5-string that would be good for the school band and playing in a band (rock and metal mostly). I have a very long list of them so here it goes.

    carvin LB75P
    fender standard jazz
    ibanez: sr885, edc705, eda905, btb405qm
ltd (since i'm kinda on a budget) c305
    mtd kingston
    lakland skyline 55-01
    spector ns2000q5p
    conklin gt-5

i know it's a long list, but those are the ones i'm currently looking at that, i found, were under $1000. so if you could help me, i would appreciate it.

  2. I would go with the kingston, the carvin or BTB. Most people here will probably say the Kingston.

From your list, I think I'd pick the Skyline.

I'd say either the Kingston. the Lakland Skyline, or the Conklin GT-5. Its gonna be upto you.. everyone has there own personal likes/dislikes.. Whats great to me may be not so good to you..

I agree with the last poster. Kingston, Groove Tools, or the 55-01.

Kingston. I do the hardcore scene with a Kingston 5, and it performs admirably. The B string is second to none, the electronics are passive, and very clear. The neck is a beeze to play, nearly flat radius, a thin fast neck, and enough ass kicking to last the whole set.

Kingston, bar none. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Can't go wrong with any of those, all are pro quality basses.

If it were me, I would get the 55-01, although if you get the Kingston, with the $$$ you save you can buy something else, too.
