Which cab for hartke 3500?

I'm trying to decide between two used bass rigs, both with the Hartke 3500 as the amp. Would it be better to get the rig with a 4.5 cabinet (4x10 with a 5" tweeter) or the one with a 115XL and a 210XL? I play rock music, and they're both around the same price, though the rig with the 4.5 cab is 3 years newer. I'm leaning towards the rig with the 115 and 210, but can't decide. Which one would be louder, and which would help me get a fuller sound?

I played a 3500 through a 115xl and a 210xl for the last 3-4 years and liked it. I recently bought a Schroeder cab and a new pre/power amp set up. I play mostly rock and find that the Hartke rig works fine with plenty of volume for most of the gigs I played. I almost never used it for more than a stage monitor though since most of our gigs have everything going through the house system. I've never played the 4.5 though. Good luck!

Does the 115 and 210 setup generally offer more versatility and better sound than a 4x10? I'm a recently converted guitarist, so I'm trying to learn the basics here.

I doubt very much. I had 2 4.5xl cabs and wish I never traded them.

Get a 215. That is what I used with my 3500. Of course, that is not one of your choices you listed, so I apologize for throwing out an answer you didn't offer.

Of your choices, I'd go 115 and 210.
