See title. Sometimes I feel like most red bass guitars have either a white or a black pickguard. I like both, but I feel like there have to be some other good options for pickguard colors on a red bodied bass. Standing out can be good or bad, but I think it's mostly good.
My girlfriend plays a Fiesta Red Classic 60s Fender Jazz with a tortoise pickguard. It looks amazing, imho... The pickguard has black and brown spots that perfectly balance the aesthetics of the solid red body. {}
I have some ideas! Anodized gold looks decent on a red bass, imho. Seen and played a vintera 50 and it wasn't bad looking. Like this. {} Tort. {} Some kind of sparkle/galaxy, bonus points for extra blue tint and bling {}
I've always wondered why Fender rarely if ever repeated that look from Strats and other guitars of the white pickups shells on a white pickguard on basses. If I had a red one (just let me find the right Candy Apple Red one !), I'd think about doing as I did with my Lake Placid Blue James Johnston Squier: {} I just always like this look, especially on the 'DuPont' car colors like CAR, LPB, etc.
As many pics in this thread have demonstrated, the correct answer is black. Black goes with everything.
