Which Colour Pickguard - LPB Precision

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by theevilplankton, Oct 27, 2009.

  1. I've had my Lake Placid Blue P-bass for about a month now, and the only thing I'm not sure about is the pickguard.

In fact, a fellow TB'er described the factory one as looking like the colour of a tub of cottage cheese!

Question is, do I change....and if I do, any suggestions of what would suit a LPB P?

BTW, it has the maple fretboard.

    Anybody good with photoshop???!!!

It's blue. What doesn't look good with blue? Maybe stay away from green, but other than that I could dig pretty much anything.

Tort or mint. Both cool on LPB.

I like the way my 1983 VS '62 Precison looks with the W/B/W guard that came with it. But if you're into cosmetics and want to change things, my first choice would be a "mother of toilet seat" pearlesent one like kaiser sosea (great name BTW!, not among the usual suspects, eh?) shows on that Lakland DJ.

There's some pictures of Chris Chaney playing a LPB P with a tortise shell guard. When I put a 'shell gaurd against my LPB bass I didn't like it, but those pictures of Chris look pretty good too. I also think an anodized guard would look good on LPB with maple.

    white pearl.
  11. I'm a little torn between the white pearl and the tortoise shell.

Has anyone got any pictures of a LPB with a tort guard?

I would go with either tort or, if you can order one, orange.

Ryan Kienle from Matchbook Romance has a blue/orange G&L SB-2. I've always loved that color scheme.

You can *sort of* see it in this video:

white pearloid would be my choice for a LPB body. IMO it looks killer with both Maple and Rosewood

    all the best,

    Black or abalone.
  18. Doesn't get better than that!

  19. LPB needs an aged WBW guard. The best is an Allparts parchment colored guard.
