Lets say your going to buy a fender j and p bass but you want one to be fretless which should it be.

I think it should be the j and it should have a rosewood neck and the p should be fretted with a maple neck.

    Thoughts.

Well, if you're buying new the decision has already been made for you, no fretless P bass.

I really wish Fender would make a fretless jazz with an ebony board. :(

Do fender coat there fretless j basses with anything?

If not is rosewood to soft for fretless bass use would it be better with a maple neck?

  9. By far my coolest bass is a MIJ fretless Fender A/E deluxe, It's so sweeet! It has a Jazz neck profile bound P-bass body and F-hole. Piezo pickup under the bridge and Lace senor P-style pups. The best of all worlds. It's the bass for me. I also have a Fender Jazz and P-bass fretless. also all are unlined boards. I tend to like the Jazz neck better. Ebony would be great but thats not a Fender option.
