I have 2 fender jazzbasses and a lot of pickguards..
    A white MIA '76 and a black MIM '95.
    the pickguards i have are

-white (original from the black bass)
-black (original from the white bass)
    -dark tortoise
    -fake tortoise

I currently have the fake tortoise on the black bass and the tortoise on the white bass.

Which one of the combinations below are the best looking in you opinion? and why? because it looks vintage or cool or maybe just incredible..?? port your thoughts if you will..

the pickguards are just layed on top of the mounted one so it may look wierd in some photos.

    My lack bass...

    My white bass

and a bonus.. my main axe as it looks today..accept from that the chrome-covers are mounted and the fingerrest is mounted pre'76-style..

Sorry, I just gotta ask, are your strings extremely rusty or are they tapewounds?

Can anyone please tell me hy the "thumb rest" or "finger rest" was mounted under the G-string at that angle?

Great looking basses by the way, I'm jealous.

Though I didn't notice the rest in his photos, Fender basses were originally designed to be played with your thumb and the rest was for your fingers to hang onto. At least that's what I've read.

Agreed! The torts fit the best in my opinion. I cant really think of why, they just do it :smug:

I chose tortoise shell for the black and the white, and since that is impossible, I would either go for a dark tortoise or white on the black jazz, but definitely tort on the white.

And as far as tort on black goes, I'm a big fan as well, as anyone could tell from my bass.

yeah, you know what.. the wear on the upper side actually comes from a stupid jacket.. it teared it up like sandpaper.. :eyebrow:
but atleast it's worn in the way i play..
and actually i don't think i'd ever sell it.. i'm in love..

actually.. it's possible since there are 2 different torts.. ..
a faux tort on the black and a "real" tort on the white..

thanx dudes for the input.. give me more.. :hyper:
  13. The bassist for the Cult had a black Precision and a white precision (or maybe Jazz, I don't recall) with matching tort 'guards. I think that looks awesome. Sort of an good twin/evil twin thing.

The dark tort looks good on the black. Lighter tort on the white.
  14. chrome on the black, tort on the white.....very nice pair you have.....im thinking of putting a clear scratchplate on my natural jazz
  15. I think the darker tort would work better on the white, so the lighter would show up/contrast more on the blacmk

Yes, but I meant real tortoise on both, as the colors are noticeably different from one and other.

Anyhow, good luck with your decision making, and the white Jazz looks spectacular.

I like the chrome or black on the black

and the white or tort on the white
(I think the white on the white bass looks better than the tort, but either look good)

And just a thought, white pearl on the white bass to match the inlays?
